The Blueprint for Inclusive Research and Development in Education (BIRD-E)

Modernizing K-12 research through inclusive and diverse engagement of the education community and designing innovative solutions to bridge the gap between research and practice.

Every child deserves an equitable, high-quality education experience, but this can only be achieved if we know what actually makes a difference for students and the educators who work with them. Research and evidence are most valuable when people use it to make effective decisions for students who need the most support. Unfortunately, the current structure of education research - from who does the research, how the research is conducted, and how it is disseminated - makes it difficult to tie research to action.

We need education research that is more inclusive, connective, and accessible so that researchers, providers, and educators can create and participate in efficient, low-cost research and use evidence that easily identifies what works for who and under what conditions.

We need a framework that creates a structured and universal ecosystem for generating, synthesizing, and mobilizing research-based evidence to ensure that students have access to programs and products that positively impact learning.

We need a Blueprint.
